54th Cornelscourt is a scout group consisting of cub, scout and venture sections. Currently we have approximately 30 children in Cubs. Children join in the September that they start 3rd class, and stay for three years, therefore going into Scouts in 6th Class. Cubs is a 3 year program, and we do not take children joining in 4th or 5th class.

We have an extremely long waiting list for the next 6 years, and we can never take all the children on the waiting list. Each year we take between 10 and 13 new cubs, with an equal mix of boys and girls. Siblings of existing or previous Cubs or Scouts are given priority, as are children of current leaders. Other than this, children are given a place on a first come first served basis.

Please note that due to long waiting list in the past three years, we have not been able to take all children on the waiting list, even those who have had their names down for 3-4 years.

We cannot take an infinite number of children each year, as we are limited by leader numbers, and by the knock-on effect of extra children in Cubs, when they go into Scouts.

Places generally do not become available mid-year, if some children drop out during the year we wait until the following September to fill their place, as it is not ideal for a new child to start mid-year. Due to the current high demand for places, we recommend that you consider putting your child’s name down for other Cub groups in the area.
